Personal Bio

Matthew T. Russell, CFP® is Founder and President of MTR Financial Services, LLC. He offers over 28 years of financial planning and investment management/operational experience. His responsibilities have ranged from providing personal financial planning to high net worth individuals and businesses to leading a team of investment operations specialists in the oversight of a multi-billion dollar trading arm within AIG Global Investments.

Matthew graduated in 1992 from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana with a BS in Financial Planning and Counseling. Matthew has also successfully completing the Certified Financial Planner ™ program in 2004. He plans to pursue the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation to further expand and define his investment background and knowledge.

Matthew is currently active in various professional and community organizations. He is a member of both the National and Houston chapters of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). Matthew remains active in his church, Kingwood United Methodist Church, having served on numerous committees and volunteering his time educating individuals and couples in the basics of financial planning by facilitating a Financial Peace University™ program each year. And for almost 15 years he was an active member in the Lake Houston YMCA Indian Princess/Guides program, which is designed to strengthen the bonds between fathers and their children.

In 2008, Matthew was selected to be a Personal Financial Counselor (PFC) for MHN Government Services. This organization provides education, support and assistance on personal finance solutions to Active Service Members, Guard and Reserve Components, their families and Veterans necessary to thrive in the face of the challenges presented by the military lifestyle. These solutions include money management, credit and debt liquidation, analysis of assets and liabilities, and establishing and building savings plans.

Matthew and his wife, Kristen, have three grown daughters. In the spare time he does have, Matthew enjoys reading, wilderness camping, and spending as much time as he can with his family.
